Bird and wildlife
watchers are also well catered for and need not
travel far from Rhian to enjoy their hobby.
Buzzards, pheasant, curlews, owls, goldcrests,
cuckoos, wrens and many others are regularly seen
(or heard) from and in our gardens. Red,
roe and muntjac deer, otters and pine-martens have
also been spotted nearby. The Rhian burn (on
our boundary) can be fished for trout, and river and
loch fishing permits may be arranged locally.
Other
activities available in the area include horse
riding on idyllic beaches, ceilidh dancing classes,
photographic safaris, swimming pool and leisure centre, island boat trips, craft shops, Strathnaver
Museum (Clan Mackay room) and historical walks to
trace the Clearances. |

Highland Cows can be seen all over the Highlands of
Scotland.
Please be aware that these are not pets and if
the cows have calves with them then they may feel
that people who are too close are a threat to their
calf and may act to defend them.
They are however beautiful creatures and are
really excellent subjects for photographs! |
There are many beaches in this area, they mostly have beautiful white sand.
There is often a steep
walk down to the beaches but it is always worth it!
If you like to look in caves then please be aware
that the tide can change very quickly here.
